MS IE8 RC1 배포, 2009년 상반기 정식 버전 출시 예정

인터넷 익스플로러 8 베타 2가 지난 8월에 나온 이후 4개월 만에 RC1(Release Candidate: 출시 후보 제품)이 나왔습니다. 유출된 스크린샷에 의하면 빌드 넘버는 8.0.6001.18343 이라고 되어 있네요. 현재는 영어버전만 테스터들에게만 배포되고 있고 아직은 일반 유저들에게는 공개되지 않았습니다.
최신 빌드는 외관이 잘 다듬어져 있다고 하며 일반 대중에게는 내년 1/4분기정도에 공개될 계획이고 그런뒤에 곧 마지막 빌드가 나올것입니다. 이 사실은 IEBlog에 아래와 같이 나와 있습니다. 이로 미루어 보아 내년 상반기에는 IE8의 정식버전이 발표될 것으로 보입니다.
We will release one more public update of IE8 in the first quarter of
2009, and then follow that up with the final release. Our next public
release of IE (typically called a “release candidate”) indicates the
end of the beta period. We want the technical community of people and
organizations interested in web browsers to take this update as a
strong signal that IE8 is effectively complete and done. They should
expect the final product to behave as this update does. We want them to
test their sites and services with IE8, make any changes they feel are
necessary for the best possible customer experience using IE8, and
report any critical issues (e.g., issues impacting robustness,
security, backwards compatibility, or completeness with respect to
planned standards work). Our plan is to deliver the final product after
listening for feedback about critical issues.
